Hi Beverly!
Welcome to planDisney!
I think you are referring to
Disney Springs, the shopping, dining and entertainment complex at Walt Disney World Resort. In 1975 this location opened with the name 'Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village', which changed to 'Walt Disney World Village' in 1977. Then during the 1980's it was known as 'Disney Village Marketplace'. In 1997 the area was re-named 'Downtown Disney' until 2015 when it was officially known as Disney Springs.
I love spending time at Disney Springs. It's a really nice place to relax and unwind, after the more exciting and busy days at any of the four theme parks. With a
huge choice of restaurants, there really is something to suit every taste - from a coffee and an ice-cream sundae at
Ghiradelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop, to a fabulous waterfront dinner at
The BOATHOUSE, a cupcake at Sprinkles or fried chicken at
Chef Art Smith's Homecomin', and everything in between. We really are spoiled for choice.
If it's
shopping you enjoy - take your pick! You can browse around the vast
World of Disney, choose a new bag at Vera Bradley, treat yourself with some new makeup at Sephora or MAC Cosmetics, build and buy something at
The LEGO Store.... and so it goes on!
Follow all that by taking a tethered flight on
Aerophile - The World Leader in Balloon Flight, for the most spectacular views, or enjoy a movie and a meal at AMC Dine-in Theaters or if you are all feeling competitive, stop by Splitsville Luxury Lanes.
There is no admission fee to visit Disney Springs, and parking is complimentary. Disney buses will bring you here from any Disney Resort hotel, beginning around 45 minutes before opening time to one hour after Disney Springs closes.
Opening times can be seen here.
I hope you have time to visit Disney Springs during your next visit to Walt Disney World. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Sue
