Hi Shelly!
Walt Disney World certainly has world class places to spend the night! There are basically 3 levels of Resorts at Walt Disney World: Value, Moderate, and Deluxe. The Value Resorts have smaller rooms and double beds but offer the some of the same amenities that the Deluxe Resorts offer such as access to Disney Transportation and Extra Magic Hours. The Value Resorts cost less per night and are more economical for your budget. The Moderate Resorts have slightly larger rooms and cost more per night and have more amenities. The Deluxe Resorts have the largest rooms, Queen sized beds (some have King sized beds) and extreme amenities, but they cost more per night. Often the Deluxe Resorts are closer in proximity to a Park for example the Contemporary or the Polynesian are right on the Monorail line to the Magic Kingdom.
So the answer to your question is really dependant on what kind of vacation that you wish to have. If you spend all of your time in the Parks and not much time at your room, then a Value Resort would be perfect for you. Also if you like to be near a Park, like to spend more time at your Resort, and like to be pampered, then a Deluxe Resort would be worth the extra money for you.
I have stayed in Value Resorts and Deluxe Resorts and can tell you that there is large difference between the two, but if am traveling to Walt Disney World and trying to save money, then a Value Resort is more than adequate for my son and I.
