I have a Disney vacation scheduled for December. If dining plans are reinstated by then, can you give me an idea of what the cost is per person.

    Hi Sherry!

Thanks for dropping by planDisney with your question!

I'm excited to hear you have Walt Disney World Resort vacation plans for December. What an awesome time to visit, as all four theme parks will be decked out for the holidays, as well as Disney Springs. My family visits in December every year - it's so magical, and really puts us in the holiday spirit!

I'm sure you're already making decisions about one of the most important parts of your Disney vacation - where to eat! With all the awesome dining options, from Counter/Quick Service to Fine Dining, there's something to please every palate in your travel party.

My family members are longtime fans of the Disney Dining Plan. With the dining plan, we were able to handle dining costs up front, before we traveled, and didn't have to pay out of pocket every time we enjoyed a meal or snack. It really took the guesswork out of budgeting for meals on our Disney vacations! We were much more likely to splurge on fine dining and fancier restaurants when using the Disney Dining Plan.

At this time, during Walt Disney World's phased reopening, select Guest offerings have been paused until further notice. The Disney Dining Plan is not being offered currently, and there have been no announcements about when and if it will return. I'm sure that as popular as the dining plan is, careful consideration is being given to bringing it back! That being said, I would hate to speculate on what the pricing might be when it returns. The best place to watch for news regarding a relaunch of the program would be on the Disney Parks Blog or on the Dining: Know Before You Go page on the Walt Disney World website. In the past, Guests were able to add the Disney Dining Plan to their vacation packages up to 48 hours before their arrival date.

My fellow planDisney panelist Jackie recently shared some great ideas about how to budget for meals in the absence of the dining plan. I hope some of these tips are helpful! My fingers are crossed that the Disney Dining Plan will be offered soon - in the meantime, I'm getting hungry just thinking about some delicious Disney food!

Please come back and visit us here at planDisney if you have more questions before your trip - we're happy to share tips and advice to add a little extra magic to your Walt Disney World Resort vacation.
