If you use disney vacation points to take a cruise, what other fees will you have to pay? Do you also have tips and gratuity?

    Hi Marc,

Great question!  As a Disney Vacation Club member you can use your points to book a voyage on Disney Cruise Line.  When using your points, you will be assessed a non-refundable transaction fee to book your reservation.  Currently the fee is $95 per confirmed reservation.

Your point reservation will then be treated like any other cash reservation, and you will be expected to pay the gratuities at the end of your voyage.  To get an idea of what this will cost, you can find the gratuities and tipping guidelines HERE.

Now, I'll add my two cents about using points to book a Disney cruise vacation.  As a vacation club member myself, I have calculated, recalculated and counted points every which way to determine if this is a wise use of points.  In my personal opinion you optimize your point usage when using them at the Disney Vacation Club Resorts.  Having the flexibility to use your points on the cruise is a plus but it requires an extensive allotment of points.  If you only intend on vacationing every other year then this seems much more reasonable.

    Hope this helps!
