We have Disney Vacation planned for October, while we are there our daugher will be celebrating her 12th birthday. Do any of the parks do anything special for this occasion? Also do you recommend dining reservations during the off season as well?

    Hello Tina,

My daughter recently celebrated her birthday at Disney World, and it made for a truly wonderful experience for her - and us! While each Theme Park does not have a specific celebration for the birthday girl, I suggest your daughter picks up a birthday button from Guest Services when you arrive. By wearing the pin, it lets Cast Members know about her big day -  and you never know what surprises they may have in store. My daughter was treated to dessert, stickers, and just friendly songs. She loved every minute of it!

As for dining reservations, this really is up to you. If there's a spot at which you truly have your heart set, I think you should make the reservations. You don't want to be shut out of a restaurant you love! From my experience, I have traveled during the busy summer months without having made dining reservations. So I think you would be ok going this route for your trip. While I'm not guaranteed a seat, I know I can ask Guest Services that morning to check on availability or I can simply walk up to a restaurant to inquire. Sometimes going with the flow can be just as much fun as organizing and planning ahead of time!

Hope this helps. And happy birthday to your daughter!
