Our Disney vacation is planned for May. My 2 1/2 year old son is so excited about seeing Mickey for the first time. Can you suggest ways to make waiting for our vacation a little easier on our little guy? Thanks a bunch!

    Hi Amy,

Boy do I understand the excitement that the little ones have over their upcoming visit with Mickey Mouse!  It is exceptionally hard at this age because they don't have a grasp on the concept of time...and a day or a week might as well be a year to them!

We always do countdown calendars, but I typically start those about a month out.  I'll create and decorate a month calendar page for them (I do one for each of my kids), and they put a sticker on each day until we reach MICKEY!

Another idea would be to make a paper chain with one link for each day until your vacation.  Every day he can remove a link and he'll be able to visually see the chain getting shorter and shorter.  Once the chain is gone...it's time to visit Mickey!

I hope you have a wonderful trip, your son is a great age for a visit with Mickey!
