We are going on our 1st Disney vacation with our 5 yo and 6 months old girls from April 4- 7. . a) Is it worth it for us to purchase the dining plan? b)This late in the game what character dinner reservations do you suggest that my 5 yo wd enjoy?

    Hi Leo!

I have purchased the Disney Dining Plan several times now and I do find that it has saved my family money, especially since we like to do character meals which can be pricey.  We like having our meals prepaid and it's so simple to use the credits to pay for our meals and snacks.  You will find that there is a lot of flexibility in options for your snacks too!

You are pretty late in the game, so my suggestion is to grab any character dining that you can that you would be interested in.  If your daughters like Princesses, try for Akershus Royal Banquet Hall.  The food is terrific and it is a great way to meet a handful of Princesses.  Lunch here is typically easier to get into than dinner.

1900 Park Fare also has a royal character dinner.  I have never had dinner here, but we have it booked for June and I am really excited to try it out.  The breakfast here is delicious.

Are Mickey and the gang popular in your house?  Chef Mickey's is my favorite restaurant to see them.  This is one of the most popular character dining experiences, so it might be booked up.  It doesn't hurt to try anyway.

Crystal Palace is the place to go if you want to see characters from Winnie the Pooh.  They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so there are lots of options for reservations.

If you find that most restaurants are full, keep trying.  I have been able to grab prime reservations just a couple of days before my trip.  You will also find that reservations have been opening up because of guests delaying their trips caused by this winter weather.

    Have a magical day!
