Anchors Aweigh, Vanessa!
Welcome back to planDisney. How exciting you are planning to sail to the great wide somewhere on another
Disney Cruise Line cruise. Our family loves sailing on the high seas with Disney, because we love discovering dazzling places we never knew while being immersed in the magic of Disney.
Vanessa, it sounds like you are inquiring about using a
combination of Vacation Points and cash to pay for your next Disney cruise, since you are asking about using a discount and Points. I double checked with Disney Vacation Club, and they informed me that, unfortunately, they can't combine discounts when paying for Disney cruises. When booking a Disney cruise through Disney Vacation Club with a Vacation Point and cash combination, the cash portion will be a special DVC rate. So, that means that you wouldn't be able to get a Florida discount on the cash portion.
If you do decide to use a combination of Vacation Points and cash to pay for your cruise, just note that at least one person must be paid for in full using Vacation Points (which will be transferred to Reservation Points), and you can't split a person's fare with Vacation Points and cash. Essentially, each fare for which you use Vacation Points has to be a full fare. All others can be paid for in cash. On our last cruise, we used Vacation Points to pay for our oldest son, and then we used a Disney Gift Card and cash to pay for the balance. It's a great way to maximize the magic of Membership to enjoy a whole new world of Disney destinations.
Now, if you would rather get a Florida Resident discount, should that be more economical for you, you would just book that directly with Disney Cruise Line. But if using a combination of Vacation Points and cash adds more pixie dust to your wallet, it is easy to do. Just call
Member Services, whom I like to think of as Fairy Godparents. With a wave of their wands and a "bibbidi bobbidi boo," they make your vacation dreams come true. One last thing to note, Vanessa, is that when booking through Disney Vacation Club, there is a $95 (subject to change) non-refundable transaction fee that will be required to secure the booking.
I hope this helps you, Vanessa, and I hope the wish your heart makes comes true. If you have any further Disney Vacation Club questions, sail back here to see me, and I'll be so happy to help you.
Bon Voyage,
Keri
