Hi Moms! Disney "trivia": In 1998 we took our 5 yo twin DDs to a character meal. We have photos of them with Mickey in a captain's outfit. My husband insists the meal was on a boat. I can't find any info on the name of the restaurant. Does anyone

Oh Joan, you really taxed my own memory!!!!  Your husband was indeed correct that the meal was on a boat.  The boat never moved but it was a replica of an old paddle wheeler and located in Downtown Disney.  Actually the boat is still there and still hasn't moved and it is where the famous restaurant called Fulton's Crab House is located.

The character breakfast was with Captain Mickey and his Riverboat Crew.  I am not sure when this option ceased to be offered.  There is also a character dining with Captain Mickey in Disneyland at Ariel's Grotto.  In doing some research I found an interesting article detailing how the Riverboat started.  I fondly remember dining in the Empress Room as well as the Steerman's Quarters and the Fisherman's Deck.  Wow, time has flown by!  Click HERE to read more about the history!
