We have a Disney Trip planned in October. Our package includes the dining plan. I'm finding the majority of restaurants booked for our dates. Will more availability open up as our dates get closer? Is it possible to walk up for table service?

    Hi Monica!

October is my favorite time to enjoy Walt Disney World Resort and we are excited about our trip that is coming up in just a few short weeks! Dining reservations for table-service restaurants open up 180 days in advance. Unfortunately, that can make it a little tricky to get a reservation for folks who don't want to plan that far in advance, like me. So here are my top tips for securing a dining reservation for your trip:

    • Search for availability over all restaurants: If you search the main dining page for availability over all restaurants at Walt Disney World Resort, you can very quickly see who has availability for the meal you are interested it. This will save you quite a bit of time since you can see everything at once and it may also give you ideas of places to try that you had never thought of before!
    • Search for meals instead of specific times: At the top of the Times search field, you will find the meals available (i.e, Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner, as applicable). If you search over the entire meal, you will get all openings over that entire seating, rather than openings around a specific time.
    • Be flexible: I have scored some fantastic last-minute reservations by being flexible. A late lunch at 2:00 p.m. allows our family to enjoy some fun quick-service snacks around noon, but we will still be hungry for our main meal!
    • Keep checking: Guests do sometimes cancel their reservations. So if the perfect reservation isn't available now, I recommend you make a backup reservation and continue continue checking for the perfect one.
    • Walk-ups can sometimes be accommodated: It doesn't hurt to ask how long the wait is for a table. You never know! The concierge desk can also help you check for a table.

Sending you lots of dining pixie dust! T-T-F-N, ta ta for now!
