Hi Melissa! Welcome to planDisney!
A trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth in less than two weeks has me feeling just a little bit envious---in a good way. I'm so excited for you! Soon, your days will be filled with delicious DOLE Whips, creamy Mickey Ice Cream Bars, and maybe even a warm Cinnamon Roll from
Gaston's Tavern—yum!
I did some digging on your question and even had a little help from the fabulous Edna Mode—she's such a gem! We reached out to a friendly Cast Member who confirmed that Disney is phasing out the older MagicBand 2 in favor of the new
MagicBand+. I took a peek at the
Disney Store online and unfortunately didn't find any available there nor in the pre-arrival selections. I have seen several MagicBand 2 varieties in the theme parks, but I can't say I see them often. So, while you might still encounter the occasional older MagicBand 2 on property in the coming weeks, most options will be the new MagicBand+. But just like Edna says, "I never look back, darling! It distracts from the now."
If the MagicBand+ isn't quite your style, no worries at all! You've got some great alternatives. You can use the
Disney MagicMobile Service on eligible Android phones, iPhones, or Apple Watches through the My Disney Experience app. Or, you can choose a Key to the World card instead of the MagicBand+. These plastic cards are complimentary and can be picked up at the theme parks or your Resort hotel. Plus, both options work much like the MagicBand+ to hold your tickets and
Lightning Lane passes!Whether you choose a MagicBand 2, MagicBand+, Disney MagicMobile, or a Key to the World card, Edna Mode says they are all the perfect accessories for a visit to Walt Disney World Resort. Just, "no capes!"
I hope you have the most incredible trip. Reach out if we can help further. As fast as Dash, we'll be here to help.
Have a super time,
Shonette
