    Does Disney travel insurance cover when booking a good neighbor hotel?

    Your wonderful vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort is just around the river bend, how exciting! It sounds like you’re getting the final details of your trip together, and I’m happy to share how the Travel Protection Plan offered through Disney can help you.

    The hotel selection should not matter if your trip is eligible for this protection, a form of travel insurance. Please review the details of this insurance policy, which do not mention a specific hotel category.  

    To see if your Disney vacation is eligible for purchasing this benefit, please take the following steps:

    • Log onto your My Disney Experience account on the Walt Disney World website
    • Navigate to My Plans
    • Select Change Reservation
    • Scroll down the page to see if the reservation is eligible for adding Travel Protection. If so, you will see the option to Add. (If not, Add will not be available.)
    • Select Add if desired and follow the prompts to complete this purchase.

    A Walt Disney World vacation is an investment, and it’s always a smart idea to protect it if you feel the coverage is a good fit for your family. I often purchase travel insurance for these big vacations, and please know that if you decide to purchase a policy from an outside company (or already have blanket travel coverage) it can apply to your travel dates, depending on the details of that policy. While I certainly hope your vacation goes smoothly, I can appreciate wanting the coverage for any unforeseen events.
