What does the Disney travel insurance cover?

Hi there, Marilyn! Welcome to planDisney!

As my family’s Disney cruise vacation organizer, if there’s one thing I’ve looked at extensively over the years, it’s the travel insurance provided by Disney Cruise Line, also known as the Disney Cruise Line Vacation Protection Plan

I would be happy to give you more information about the Disney Cruise Line Vacation Protection Plan. Whenever I’m booking my Disney cruise, I make sure to add it to my booking. Not only does it cover many things, but there’s added peace of mind knowing that, should it be used, we’re booking directly with Disney Cruise Line. Let me say, right off the bat, as a frequent Disney cruiser, I highly recommend it!

The Disney Cruise Line Vacation Protection Plan covers trip cancellations, trip interruptions, trip delays, medical emergencies, baggage loss, and baggage delays-both before and during your vacation. If you have any questions about specific circumstances, my best suggestion is to call Disney Cruise Line. I know I've called many times and asked, "If we were to be in this type of circumstance, are we covered?" That always gives me peace of mind and helps me understand my specific circumstances.

I will also tell you my absolute favorite part of their policy, and what I like to think of as our 'insurance within our insurance policy', and that’s their  “Cancel For Any Reason” policy. It means just that: you can cancel for any reason! If, for whatever reason, you need to cancel your Disney cruise, you can apply 75% of the booking fee to a future Disney cruise sailing within one year. When they say "Cancel For Any Reason", they mean it, because whether it's a covered circumstance or not, you're able to do this! That is the ultimate piece of mind, and one of the primary reasons I always choose it.

Let me remind you to ensure you're adding the Disney Cruise Line Vacation Protection Plan before your final cruise payment date. This is very important because it can no longer be added after the final payment is complete.

Marilyn, I hope this offered clarification. I wish you wonderful memories, always. Please sail back to planDisney if you have any other questions.
