We’re going to Disney with my toddler who has a peanut and dairy allergy. She will be under 2 at the time and can eat for free, but how does that work at sit down restaurants- Can I order the allergy friendly option and share with her?

Welcome to planDisney, Katie! What a great question for us today. It's a great idea to start thinking ahead about your little one's needs while you're on vacation, and I'm happy to walk you through exactly what you can expect. One of the best things about Walt Disney World is how wonderfully accommodating they are when it comes to food allergies and dietary restrictions. So many families find it to be one of the easiest places to dine safely with allergies!

Since your toddler is under 3, she gets to eat for free in the sense that she can share off of your plate at table-service restaurants. That means if you order an allergy-friendly entrée for yourself, you're absolutely welcome to share it with her. What she won't be able to do is order her own separate entrée for free. The only exception is at buffets or family-style dining, where your little one can have her own plate and enjoy what's available at no additional cost.

Now, when it comes to allergy-friendly dining, Disney really shines. You'll find allergy-friendly options at all table-service restaurants, and most quick-service spots too. When making your reservation, you can note her peanut and dairy allergies in the system. Then, when you check in, either through the My Disney Experience app using Mobile Check-In or at the host stand, you'll be asked again about allergies or dietary restrictions. Your server will also confirm once you're seated, and if you like, you can request to speak with a chef directly. They'll come to your table and help guide you through safe choices and any substitutions, if needed.

So, in short: your toddler is covered. You'll have plenty of allergy-friendly options, and you'll have multiple opportunities to make sure her meal is safe and enjoyable. Between the allergy-friendly menus, the caring Cast Members, and chef consultations if you want them, you'll be in wonderful hands.

I hope this answers your question, Katie, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your magical vacation!
