I have been to Disney 4 times and am now planning my 5th trip but this is the first time we are using the dining plan. We usually stay in old key west and cook for ourselves my question is how important is it to make dining reservations

Hi Leon! If you have signed up for the dining plan that includes table service restaurants then it is VERY important that you book your reservations as soon as possible. During holiday times it will be extremely difficult for you to find openings especially at the more popular locations.

You are able to book your dining at 180 days before arrival and you can do that by calling the Disney dining number, 407-939-3463 or by booking them on line at www.disneyworld.com. A new policy has just been enforced which will require you to book your spot by putting a credit card down at the time of the reservation. If your party fails to cancel 24 hours or more you will be charged ten dollars for each member of the reservation party. Unfortunately, this had to happen as so many guests were booking double locations and then not showing up leaving many guests without a place to dine yet empty tables in the restaurants. It is simply a hold for your spot and time.

Quick Service spots do not take reservations so you won't have to worry about those meals. I have always found it good to get the family to sit down together at least once a day to rest and relax and enjoy the magical moments that each have had.
