Hello Disney Mom's! We will be taking our 1st Disney vacation in May '11 (staying @ DCBR). My daughter will be 5 @ the time of our trip. What tours/dining experiences would you recommend for this age? There is so much to do I don't know where to start!

    Hi Blair,

Your first Disney vacation is such an exciting time!  There is so much to see and do, it's hard to know just where to start.  Caribbean Beach is a great resort, and I think your little girl will love the pool area!

There are tons of great restaurants throughout Walt Disney World.  I would definitely try to do at least one character meal during your visit:

    • If you want to dine with Disney Royalty, try Akershus in Epcot or Cinderella's Royal Table at Magic Kingdom.
    • Chef Mickey's is a favorite spot for dining with Mickey and pals.
    • 1900 Park Fare is one of my favorite places for breakfast.  The food is delicious and the characters are especially great for little girls: Mary Poppins, Alice & The Mad Hatter, and Winnie the Pooh.
There are some other unique restaurants that are just pure fun:

    • Whispering Canyon Cafe
    • 'Ohana (dinner)
    • 50s Prime Time Cafe
    • Teppan Edo

If your budget allows and you want to do something extra special, make an appointment for your daughter at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique where she'll be given a royal makeover.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
