when did disney stop allowing the refillable mugs to be used in the parks

    Hello, Anthony! Welcome to planDisney!

It sounds like you are a veteran Walt Disney World Resort vacationer, partaking in the Resort-Refillable Mug on your visits to The Most Magical Place On Earth. As someone who buys a new mug for each visit so I can enjoy my coffee whenever I’d like, I am a huge proponent of this cost-saving souvenir combo!

Since I have been vacationing at Disney World almost annually since the mid-90s, the refillable mugs have only been for use at the Disney Resorts Collection hotels. I remember when the mugs were designed for each resort specifically and only able to be used at your resort, but times have changed, and you are now free to use the mug at any Disney resort for the length of your stay, up to 14 days. I do not recall when the mugs could be used for free soda, coffee, or tea at the Theme Parks, and my fellow planDisney friends echoed the same. You are, however, allowed to bring your mug to the parks, as I do, to use for water throughout the day, so maybe this is what you are recalling. My morning routine starts with a walk to the closest self-service drink station with one mug each for my wife and me to grab fresh coffee to sip while getting the kids ready for the day. Then, on my walk from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to the Magic Kingdom, I grab a second cup to enjoy on our stroll. When I reach the tap-in point at the entrance, I'm usually finished and ready to swap my caffeine for water, so I head to the nearest water bottle fill station. It also comes in handy to have our mugs in the parks if needed so our kids can share their portion of the refillable popcorn bucket. (Pro tip: add a couple of carabiners to your stroller handlebar, so when you’re not using your mug, you can clip them onto the stroller for safekeeping!)

I hope this answers your question, Anthony. If you have any additional Disney vacation planning questions, swing back by. The Sweet 16 planDisney Class of 2024 and our fellow panelists would love to share more tips, tricks, and recommendations to make your upcoming visit magical.

    See you real soon,
