We will be in Disney 9/6 - 9/10 staying at the Contemporary. Our 2yr old desperately loves Mickey and we have tried to make reservations at Chef Mickey, but "no availability". Is there a chance we can still eat there without a reservation.

    Devone:

I was in your shoes for our trip in March....

Cancellations happen every day either from folks changing their traveling plans or they are kind enough to call the dining line to cancel their dining reservations if the know they want to eat elsewhere.  Because of this, availability of a reservation before your trip is not out of the question--and can happen at any time.

For my trip in March, I kept the Disney dining number (407-939-3463) in my cell phone and called whenever I thought about the trip!  I called every day for about 30 days--no joke.  And then two days before, I got a reservation at Chef Mickey's!  (I was sitting on a bench in Animal Kingdom waiting on the family to get off the safari--both the Disney dining expert AND I were surprised to land that reservation!)

You certainly can go up and wait for stand-by, but there's no guarantee (and it is a popular restaurant).

If you have your heart set on dining with Mickey, you may want to consider one of the other Mickey dining experiences like breakfast at Tusker House in Animal Kingdom for Ohana's at the Polynesian.  You can also find him at dinner at the Garden Grill in Epcot.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
