We are going to Disney in September and have the free dining plan. Our girls will be 12 and 10. Can my one daughter, who is a picky eater, select an appetizer off of the main menu and have that considered as her entree per the dining plan?

    Hi Diana,

Disney cast members are pros when it comes to working with picky eaters.  Let's face it, just about every family has at least one child that falls under this category, obviously some more extreme than others.  Plus, there are those children with severe food allergies that simply can't eat certain foods available on the menu.

While I'm not positive that they will let you substitute an appetizer for your meal on the meal plan, because I've never actually tried to do it, I do know that servers will work with you to find something that your child will eat.  I have had them create an adult sized portion of a meal off the the kid's menu before and had no trouble.

I do recommend dining at restaurants that serve meals either buffet or family style.  This will allow your child more selection when it comes to finding foods that she likes, and she just might be brave enough to discover something new.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
