We will be at Disney in Sept 2012 with my almost 2 year old. On the website attractions like Pirates and Maelstrom say Any Height for the height requirement. Will she be able to ride these with us? Will she need to sit alone or on our lap?

Hi Erika.  Good for you, doing your homework prior to your trip!  I'm happy to report that indeed, your toddler is permitted to experience attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean and Maelstrom.  In my experience, the Cast Members have never directed us how to sit with our children on any given attraction; it is a matter of what you're comfortable with.  Both of the attractions you mention feature boats as ride vehicles and both can be somewhat frightening for the youngest of children.  You may very well find that your daughter most comfortable riding on your lap.  Of course, if not, you can place her on the bench seat beside you.  I would recommend placing her snugly between two laps she trusts!   Have a great time.
