We are going to Disney Sep13-20 and was wondering if you would do the Fantasmic dinner package to lessen the wait time for the show? Or since it is an off time of year, would you dine somewhere else and just walk up to the show? Thanks :)

It depends on how much an extra 30 minutes of waiting time is worth to you. With only 1 showing of Fantasmic nightly, you have only two choices:

1- wait approximately 60-75 minutes for the show (that’s all we’ve needed to wait in the off-season)
2- book the Fantasmic dinner package and arrive about 45 minutes prior to the show

If you want to skip the Fantasmic dinner package which offers seating in a reserved section, you should arrive at least 60 minutes early to the show. Most importantly, go on the Thursday night of your visit.

Why? SpectroMagic is playing that evening in the Magic Kingdom and many guests will head over there to watch the evening’s parade.  Avoid going on any evening where the Magic Kingdom is offering Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party because the guests not attending the party will be seeking out other entertainment those evenings.

If you decide to participate in the dinner package, remember that your reserved seating takes some time to get to. You’ll head towards Oscar’s gas station (stroller rental location) near the front entrance where you’ll show your voucher to be allowed inside the gate. Once in, it is a rather long walk to the theater. Also, do not be late. Once the regular seating area fills in and it’s about 30 minutes before show time, your reserved seating will be opened up to all guests. You want to be in your seat before this happens!

Personally I really liked the dinner package when our son was little. Any time that we could save from standing in line was well worth it to us. When we did the dinner package, we still had to wait once in our bleacher seats but we could entertain by pulling a small toy or crayon with paper out. Enjoy!
