Can I use Disney Reward Dollars to make purchases onboard? Or can I apply the rewards towards charges and gratuities? If so, how can I do this? Thanks!

Ahoy there, Zsaella, and welcome aboard the friendly decks of planDisney!

Ah, Disney Rewards Dollars! For Guests with a Chase Disney Visa card, there's no better way to be...well...rewarded for spending you were going to be doing anyway - especially when it comes to Disney vacations!I've got good news - There are so many ways to use your Disney Rewards Dollars aboard a Disney Cruise Line vacation! I sailed on over to confirm this, and currently, you can redeem Disney Rewards Dollars on Disney Cruise Line for the following:

    • All vacations that are booked through The Disney Cruise Line website.
    • All Dining purchases charged to your portfolio
    • All Shopping purchases charged to your portfolio
    • All other purchases charged to your portfolio - including Port Adventures!

That's a lot of nautical mileage to use those rewards dollars!

Now you see that these all mention "charged to your portfolio" and that's because while onboard, your Key to the World card links onboard purchases outside of what is included in your Disney Cruise Line vacation to your stateroom account - which is settled linked to the payment method of your choosing! We typically use a credit card to settle our account, but I know some people prefer to settle in cash, gift cards, or other methods of payment like the Rewards Dollars you mentioned - but there's one extra step you'll need to take before you can use them: redeeming them for a Disney Rewards Redemption Card!

In order to redeem Disney Rewards Dollars, you will have to log into your "Disney Rewards account," link it with the Disney account you made the cruise reservation under, and then request your Disney Rewards Redemption Card. From there, it looks like you can use your redemption card as you would a credit or debit card to make payments toward your portfolio once onboard. For any assistance using your redemption card to settle your portfolio, I definitely suggest stopping by Guest Services once you come aboard!

Oh, and don't forget to request your redemption card at least three weeks before your vacation! That bit of fine print seems important!

Thank you for your question, Zsaella! I hope X marks the spot, and we've hit the mark with this answer! As Captain Barbossa might say, "If ye come up with other questions, please sail our way again at planDisney. We'll climb to the crow's nest and keep a weather eye out for yer colors!"

Fair winds and following seas to ye!

    Andrew
