With a Disney resort reservation am I eligible to use any bell hop services at any resort hotel? Staying at GF, have late flight want to check bags at CS while we visit AK. And leave for MCO from CS instead of GF.

    Hi John! Welcome to planDisney.

My family just returned from a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation, and we had a "split stay," meaning we switched from one Disney Resorts Collection hotel to another halfway through. We love doing this because we get double the fun: twice the dining options, two fun feature pools, and double the Disney details (we found so many hidden Mickeys at both resort hotels!). Doing a split stay means extra interactions with Bell Services, and as always, they were professional, helpful, and efficient!

As someone who is seasoned in squeezing every minute of theme park fun into the last day of vacation, I like where you're going with this plan. Mickey glove high five! However, based on current operational procedures, you won't be able to take Disney's Magical Express from any resort other than the one at which you are staying on your check-out day. This means you will need to drop your luggage at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa's Bell Services desk before heading to Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park on your departure day. You will then return to the Grand Floridian to pick up your bags before boarding Disney's Magical Express from that location.

But here's the scoop: I don't think this will take much (if any) extra time out of your day. Loading your bags onto a bus or taxi, heading to another resort hotel, unloading your bags, and then checking them with Bell Services will take a lot of time in your morning - it will be much faster to do this process as your hotel. I think you're thinking that you're saving time because Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is closer to Disney's Animal Kingdom (and it is - we could see Everest from our Gran Destino Tower room last week), but ultimately the bus ride to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is only about 5-10 minutes longer.

I hope this helps you make your departure day plans, John. I hope you love every minute of your time at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park - I once toasted my vacation with a DOLE Whip with Rum from Tamu Tamu Refreshments in the Africa Section, and it was a fun and tasty "last hurrah." I recommend reading the Disney Parks Blog for all the news and updates because you never know what experience or treat might pop up just in time for your vacation. I keep a list on my phone organized by location so I never have to miss a treat!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
