Hi! We are Disney Resort people! And this time, we’re coming w/ our 5 yr old son (1st time!) & my in-laws (1st time since ‘94!). Q: what’s the best affordable way for us to stay? (8 in total) + could get Swan/Dolphin on hotel points. Pros/cons?

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Matt! I’m excited to know that you have a plan to visit the Walt Disney World Resort with your extended family! The more the merrier! Thanks for sending us your question.

A stay at the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel or the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel will keep you close to the magic, while still being able to use your hotel reward points. The best way to accommodate your group would be to book two rooms. It always seems to be the most cost-efficient way!

Matt, guests who stay at the Swan or Dolphin can enjoy limited benefits like Extra Magic Hours and transportation to the theme parks. Those friendship boats offer a nice ride to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios! You will also get the 60-day Disney FastPass+ planning window.

Staying at a Disney Resort hotel will provide those benefits and just a bit more. Complimentary rides to and from Orlando International Airport on Disney’s Magical Express and MagicBands, are only provided to guests who stay on site. Standard parking at all four theme parks is also included. Staying within the magic definitely has its benefits!

I hope I’ve given you a few points to consider while you begin to plan your next visit. As always, you can come back to see us if you need any more planning assistance. Helping you with all the details of your next magical vacation is our pleasure!
