We are going to Disney to remember our daughter 10th birthday (she died at 12 days old).We are going to send up a balloon. Does anyone else have any other suggestions that will make this special for her younger sister? I want it to be joyful and meaningful

    Hi Melissa.

So deeply sorry to hear of your loss. What a lovely idea to celebrate your daughter's life & memory as a family at a place as happy and Magical as Walt Disney World.

There are a couple of suggestions I can think of that would provide you a meaningful place to pause and reflect on your daughter's life and release your balloon in her honor.

For something quiet & memorable, a place that immediately comes to the top of my mind is next to Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom. Cinderella Wishing Well is positioned in a corner along the pathway that leads from Tomorrowland to the Castle and it's a beautiful spot. There's even a bench next to the well - a perfect spot to sit together while you reflect joyfully together. Perhaps have your daughter make a wish into the well prior to watching your balloon release up into the sky next to the beautiful castle.

On the opposite side of the back of Cinderella castle in Fantasyland, there's another beautiful spot. You'll find a beautiful fountain with young, Cinderella perched atop, just before the pathway to Liberty Square. It's a gorgeous statue and holds a Magical secret your daughter may enjoy. Crouch down in front of the fountain and you'll see that the crown on the painted wall behind Cinderella lines up perfectly atop her head. Again, you'd be able to pause around the fountain and reflect, perhaps make a 'wish' together and then release your balloon against the beautiful backdrop of the Castle.

I hope that one of these ideas captures what you had in mind for a joyful & meaningful time together remembering your daughter.

Wishing you a very Magical time together on your special trip to Walt Disney World Melissa.
