Ahoy, Michele, and welcome to planDisney! A land and sea adventure is my favorite vacation, and I am so glad you are here with your questions as you plan yours.
From your question, I am assuming you asking about heading from hotels in the Walt Disney World area to
Port Canaveral. If this is the case, there are several transportation options available.
- If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, you can add ground transportation to your Disney Cruise Line reservation. This can be done online or through the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App, but this is one instance where I prefer to call and talk to someone to get all the information I need about pricing, where to get the bus, what to expect, and any other questions.
- If you are flying into Orlando International Airport (MCO) and heading to the port or staying at the Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport, you can add ground transportation through Disney Cruise Line as well.
- If you are staying in the Orlando area but not at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel or coming from the airport, you would need to schedule private transportation to the cruise terminal. You can search online and easily find several options. Some are private, meaning just your traveling party, and some are larger and take multiple families and make multiple stops. One thing to note: when you schedule your Disney Cruise Line transportation, they assume round-trip and ask about transportation home and help with those plans, if you need it. If you book private transportation, they may or may not ask. Just make sure you are planning for both getting to your home at sea and your home back on land.
I like using the Disney Cruise Line transportation because it feels like the magic begins when you step on board the bus. When you check into your resort, you will get information about the transportation and what to do on the morning of your cruise. They will also set your Port Arrival Time based on when your bus arrives at the port.
If you are asking about transportation to Disney Cruise Line port that is not Port Canaveral, you can find
information about each port online, including ground transportation.
As you head to the port on the day of your cruise, make sure you have your required documentation and Port Arrival information in hand, and not in your checked bags. I add the cruise check-in pass to my phone's wallet to know that information will be easy to find when I get to the port.
If your plans are different than how I answered this question, or if you need any other information for your trip, please come back to
planDisney.
SEA ya' real soon!
