Hi Mary,
Welcome to planDisney, and thank you for stopping by with your question. It sounds like you and a friend are planning an exciting visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth with three young Mouseketeers in tow and are looking to save a little on your Disney Resorts Collection accommodations to put towards Mickey waffles, Mickey Ice Cream Bars, DOLE Whips, and the perfect Disney merch! That is a fantastic idea, and I am so glad you asked because many wonderful options will fit your party size and your budget. Like you, my family travels as a group of five, so I am delighted to help you find the perfect place to call home during your stay.
Before we get into specific resort recommendations, let’s take a quick look at the four categories of accommodations. Disney Value Resorts are a great choice if you want vibrant theming and lots of fun for kids while staying budget-friendly. Disney Moderate Resorts add more dining options and some larger room layouts. Disney Deluxe Resorts are known for their incredible theming, outstanding dining, and proximity to the parks. Finally, Disney Deluxe Villas offer 1, 2, and even 3-Bedroom accommodations with full kitchens and living spaces, perfect for larger families or those who want extra room to relax.
Now to the options you have been waiting for. Any room labeled as a 5th Sleeper is designed to accommodate your group. These rooms generally include either two queen beds and a child-size pull-down bed or one queen bed with a queen-size pull-down bed and a child-size pull-down bed. Here are some (but not all) great resorts with these 5th Sleeper options:
- Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
- Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside
- Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa
In the value category, you could consider a Family Suite at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, which features a bedroom, living space, two bathrooms, and a kitchenette. The sleeping arrangements are 1 Queen Bed and 1 Double-Size Sleeper Sofa, and 1 Double-Size Table Bed. My favorite theme here is the Lion King Family Suite!
If you are looking for a Moderate Resort that is both spacious and convenient, I highly recommend Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. Its tropical vibe makes you feel like you are on vacation from the moment you arrive, and its access to the Disney Skyliner provides an easy ride to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Another option worth considering is the Deluxe Villa category. These villas offer one, two, and three-bedroom layouts, which means you could have a dedicated sleeping space for each member of your group. They also include full kitchens, laundry facilities, and plenty of space to spread out. My personal favorites are Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village, where you can watch giraffes stroll past your balcony, and Disney’s Beach Club Villas, which offer quick access to EPCOT and Stormalong Bay, a truly incredible pool area.
I hope this gives you a clear path forward as you plan your stay. If you would like more guidance or a few additional recommendations, make like Jane and swing back through to planDisney. We would love to help you create even more magic for your trip.
