Hi there Cassandra, and welcome to planDisney! It sounds to me like you're one of our fellow avid pin collectors, or at least someone who knows the value and reliability of a locked pin. (I personally went for years constantly losing pins or hearing the faint clatter of metal as they dropped before I invested in some trusty pin locks!) I went over to our friends at Disney's Pin Traders, and the Cast Members there shared that without knowing how old your pin locks are, we can't know for certain whether the newest pin lock tool would necessarily work with them. Some of the oldest pins that I had received as a child from way back after the Disney Pin Trading tradition first began in 1999 were sold alongside pin locks that were similar in size used by bikers or motorcycle enthusiasts to secure their pins. In my experience, the Locking Pin Backs set that I purchased from shopDisney wasn't quite as compatible with these older pin locks, but luckily my Dad was able to find a suitable tool at our local hardware store! I recommend picking up a handy hex key or Allen wrench with the right size; some even have handles that are more comfortable to work with when you have a lot of pins to secure! On your next visit, be sure to drop by The World's Largest Pin Truck parked at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park while you can, as its location at Chester & Hester's Dinosaur Treasures in DinoLand U.S.A. has its days marked for an eventual extinction over the next few years as the area transforms under the care of Walt Disney Imagineering. In the meantime, be sure to keep an eye out on the Disney Parks Blog for any pin-related releases or news! Here's to perfect theme park days without the fear of losing pins!Prince
