Hi, there!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Patty. We're so glad you stopped by with this great question!
How sweet of you to think of doing something special to celebrate your parents' golden anniversary. 50 years is quite a milestone! The "Walk Around the World" program at Magic Kingdom Park was a positively lovely way to commemorate a special occasion, but yes, unfortunately that has been discontinued. There hasn't been a similar program offered, but I have some alternative ideas for you!
If your parents will be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort with you, a silhouette portrait of the two of them would make a lovely keepsake. Silhouette portraits can be done at the theme parks and select Disney Resort hotels. An appointment with
Disney Fine Art Photography would also be a special way to document this anniversary celebration.
For a really unique gift, stop by Crystal Arts on Main Street, U.S.A. in
Magic Kingdom Park. The glass blowing studio there, a hidden treasure for sure, offers Guests one-of-a-kind works of art. The glassblowers take custom requests for glass ornaments, dishes, vases, and more. What's even cooler is that you can watch the piece be made!
Additionally, you may want to consider purchasing a paving stone, similar to the ones that had been offered at the Walt Disney World Resort, at Give Kids the World Village. This organization in Central Florida provides cost-free Orlando vacations to children with critical illnesses. Visit www.gktw.org/help/give.php for more information.
I hope this was helpful, Patty. Please visit us again soon with any new questions you may have, and please extend our sincerest congratulations to your parents!
Ashley
