Hi Latianna,
Welcome to planDisney! As an elementary music teacher and mom of two, I believe five is a great age to visit
The Walt Disney World Resort. Five is imaginative. Five is curious. Five is active. Five is magical. In my experience, there's something for five-year-olds to enjoy at each of the four theme parks, but I will rank them here according to my own experience and let you make the final choice about the five-year-old in your life.
1.
Magic Kingdom ParkWith iconic views of Cinderella Castle and over 25 attractions with
no height restriction, Magic Kingdom park is what most kids picture when they think of Disney World. Most five-year-olds are big enough to enjoy thrills like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and their imaginations soar on classic attractions like Dumbo the Flying Elephant. My five-year-olds spent hours exploring
Tom Sawyer Island and talking pirate after a ride on Pirates of the Caribbean. Seeing characters at
Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade and fireworks at
Disney Enchantment will leave any five-year-old speechless, and you know that's a feat!
2.
Disney's Animal Kingdom ParkOur whole family enjoys spotting animals on Kilimanjaro Safaris. Giraffes, lions, and hippos are some of my daughter's all-time favorite character sightings. My son always requests a visit to
The Boneyard where he can slide, dig, and climb his way to discovery. Both kids are still working on becoming Senior
Wilderness Explorers. This self-guided scavenger hunt takes young Guests all around the theme park, learning and earning badges. The new Disney KiteTails show offers a fun, colorful respite during a busy park day.
3.
Disney's Hollywood StudiosToy Story and Star Wars fans come out to play in immersive lands that bring this park to life for kids. Kids can score high at Toy Story Mania! and fly high on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway is a new family favorite that puts families in the middle of a cartoon.
4.
EPCOTElsa, Anna, Nemo, and Remy anchor this park in kids' memories. Frozen fans adore Frozen Ever After, animated sea creatures appear in a real aquarium setting in The Seas with Nemo and Friends, and the new Remy's Ratatouille Adventure is delicious fun for the whole family.
A day at the parks requires a lot of walking for little legs. Whichever parks you choose to attend, Latianna, make sure to include some rest breaks. Take in a show. Enjoy a snack. Be sure to soak in the memories because five is also fleeting.
Choose magic,
Jennifer
