Hi Disney Moms Panel. My 9-year-old son, my husband, and my 72-year-old mom are going to Disney World this July. I was debating whether or not to even add on a dining plan to our Magic Your Way vacation package. What do you think?

    Hi Rosa,

You must be so excited for your Walt Disney World vacation! It will be here before you know it!

Deciding on whether or not to add a dining plan can be a tricky question. Then you have to decide which to purchase. It really depends on the group you travel with. I like the regular dining plan for two reasons. 1)It allows us to pay for virtually all of our vacation in advance, leaving us free to enjoy our trip knowing that it's already paid for. 2)We love character dining, but those meals can be expensive. The dining plan seems to take away some of that sticker shock at the end of the meal.

Having said that, if you plan on dining at a lot of quick service locations and know that your mom probably won't eat a lot, or that your son will want to order from the regular menu, maybe paying out of pocket would be your best option.

Hope this helps. Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
