Hi Disney Panel Moms!! I am a single mom with a 5YO son. We want to take a disney vacation but I'm torn between WDW and DCL. I love the idea of a land and sea vacation but I am on a tight budget. What would you recommend for our very first vacation?

    Hi, Jennifer!

As a seasoned veteran of both Walt Disney World (WDW) and Disney Cruise Line (DCL) vacations...let me walk you through some of your options.

Since the elements of WDW vacations can be priced separately (accommodations, dining, entertainment), there are usually more "deals" and ways to save when planning a trip to the WDW resort in Florida. You can stay in a value resort; visit during a value season; purchase park tickets on line before getting to the parks; and sometimes find offers such as free dining during certain times of the year. The parks and resorts are brimming with wonderful recreation and activities which will thrill and delight you and your sweet prince!

With that said, a DCL vacation combines the magic, whimsy and wonder of Disney with a luxurious, relaxing and pampering voyage at sea. The entertainment, dining, adventure and recreation are unparalleled, and although you may pay for everything up front, you leave all the planning at the port on a cruise.

Therefore, you really need to sit down and weigh out your options. Ask a travel agent to price out both for you and see what best fits your budget and your expectations. For some, an active, high-energy visit to the parks and resorts is just the ticket, and for some, a pixie-dusted, worry-free adventure is more their style. Do your homework and decide which is best for you. Oh, and let me know if you have more questions!

Blessings on you and whichever Disney destination you choose. Bon voyage!
