Hello, we are going to Disney for one day with our 5 year old son. It will be a first time trip for myself and my son, I believe my husband has been there once but it was years ago. What is the best park to do and key things in it?

    Hi Danielle,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Let the happy dancing begin! Hooray for first trips to the Walt Disney World Resort!

Our girls were 5-years old when we took them on their first trip. It was such a magical time! I definitely suggest Magic Kingdom. There are so many attractions for little ones. Be sure to check the height requirements but, at that age, my girls loved Tomorrowland Speedway, Astro Orbiter, The Barnstormer, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan's Flight, Dumbo the Flying Elephant and The Magic Carpets of Aladdin. The character experiences are also phenomenal at Magic Kingdom.

I also suggest that you do at least one character meal. Winnie the Pooh and friends are at The Crystal Palace, Cinderella and other princesses are at Cinderella's Royal Table and Mickey Mouse and the gang are at Chef Mickey's which is just a short walk or monorail ride away from Magic Kingdom at Disney's Contemporary Resort.

We also love the parades and fireworks at Magic Kingdom. Disney's Festival of Fantasy Parade is simply amazing. Our girls love to dance with the Move It! Shake It! Dance & Play It Street Party and, we end the day with the Happily Ever After Fireworks. The storytelling and music with the show are just spectacular.

Danielle, my advice is to spend at least one night at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. Then make advanced dining reservations and make Fast Pass+ selections - both will save you hours of time in lines!

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
