Disney's Magical Express

Will Disney be offering anything to replace the Magical Express? ...even if there is a fee of some sort?

Hello there, Kurt. Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question.

As you are aware, Kurt, Disney's Magical Express Service is being discontinued at the end of this year. Currently, Walt Disney World is not offering another service, even for an upgraded price, to get from the airport to Walt Disney World. You will need to secure your own form of transportation to the resort.

With that being said, I have a few ideas to help point you in the right direction. My favorite way to get from the airport to Walt Disney World, even now with the complimentary shuttle, is to use a ride-share service. Both major ride-share companies service the area so you can pick your favorite one. I actually like to check both apps before calling a car because sometimes there is a discount or special promotion being run. Ride-share cars are readily available around the airport and at Walt Disney World so you won't have to wait too long for a car. Also, I find them to be an affordable option for getting around. I know that not everyone is in favor of using ride-share services and in that case there are also traditional taxis waiting right outside of the airport doors ready to take you wherever you want to go. They will get you there in the same amount of time but I do find them to be a little bit pricier than a ride-share service. Another option would be to hire a car service to be waiting for you when you land at the airport. You can also schedule the car service company to pick you up at Walt Disney World when you are ready to head back to the airport at the end of your trip. A quick internet search will turn up a lot of companies in the area that offer the service. Car choices can include a Town car, SUV, passenger van and if you are feeling fancy - even a limousine. The last option I'll share with you is a new service provided by Mears called, Mears Connect. Mears is the company that Walt Disney World used to contract the Magical Express Service from. Since they no longer have a contract, Mears has stated they will be providing another option for people. The service doesn't start until January so I have no personal experience with it but you can head over to their website and check out all of the details.

I hope this gives you some ideas on how to get to Walt Disney World to kick off your most magical vacation, Kurt. If you have any other questions before your trip, please feel free to stop back by and ask me. I'm here to help!

    Have fun and enjoy!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
