We're going to Disney in November with my parents and my dad will be using a wheelchair. Do we have to goto Guest Relations at each park for the DAS pass? Also, will he be able to sit near the front for the shows?

    Hi Donald ~

As the Mom of a special needs son, I love to see that you are planning ahead for your Dad. That will make your trip go more smoothly once you reach the parks.

Disability Access Service (DAS) is issued at Guest Relations in each of the four theme parks. You will only need to stop by Guest Relations once in the first theme park that you visit. They will issue DAS so that it will be valid throughout the dates of your trip.

When you stop by Guest Relations to obtain DAS, make sure you have everyone in your party with your Dad. The Cast Members at Guest Relations will need to link everyone's MagicBand or admission card in your party to your Dad's so that they can enter the attractions with him.

The Walt Disney World Resort does a great job of providing for Guests with Mobility Disabilities. There are some attractions that your Dad will be able to remain in his wheelchair. For other attractions, he may need to transfer from his wheelchair to board.

Handicapped seating is in different places in different venues. Sometimes there is seating in the front of the venue and other times near the back. A Cast Member will be able to escort your Dad and his party to the handicapped seating areas. Depending on how crowded the venue or area is they may only let one member of your party sit with your Dad and ask that the other members of your party sit nearby. If you have particular attractions in mind, I'm happy to give you more details for that particular venue.

If you have any other questions about DAS, please feel free to visit me again. I am hEAR for you!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
