Hi! Since Disney has the new memory maker, will cast members still use MY camera to take photos instead of using memory maker? I am on a tight budget and can't justify the extra expense since I have a camera. Thank you!

    Hi Krista,

Disney PhotoPass photographers are always happy to snap a few photos with your camera or phone in addition to their own cameras.  You do not have to purchase Memory Maker in order to use PhotoPass photography services.  When you have your first PhotoPass photo taken you may obtain a PhotoPass card from the photographer.  You can present this card to each subsequent PhotoPass Photographer to scan and then view the PhotoPass photos online at a later time.  You are not obligated to purchase Memory Maker or any photos.  However if you do like some of the photos, you may purchase individual prints or the digital photo download which can cost considerably less than Memory Maker.

Although it's true I usually do purchase Memory Maker for my big family vacations, sometimes on very quick trips it's not economical for me.  Last year my husband and I visited the theme parks for two days during a quick getaway.  We had a few PhotoPass photos taken and were pleasantly surprised at how good they were.  For a small fee I was able to purchase the digital download for our favorite photo.  I also had some exceptional shots that the photographers took using my camera phone.  So my recommendation for those who are budget-conscious is to take advantage of the PhotoPass photographers and take as many photos as you can.  Their service is complimentary and you have the option to purchase photos if you like but are not obligated to do so.

Thank you for your question!  If you have any further Disney vacation planning question, please come back and visit us again at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  We are always happy to help!

    Blessings,
