Hello Disney Moms, We are going for our first trip to MK on Dec 17. Its my daughters birthday and our first time. We are unfortunately not staying at a Disney resort. How can I get a birthday pin for her and make her day extra special. Thanks.

    Hi Shibani,

You've already taken a huge step toward making your daughter's birthday special: You're going to Walt Disney World!

When you enter Magic Kingdom, make City Hall (which will be on your left) your first stop to pick up a free "Happy Birthday" button for your daughter and free "First Visit" buttons for your entire family. Just by wearing the button, she will get lots of special greetings all day from cast members and other guests. Occasionally, the button is a trigger for a surprise from Walt Disney World cast members, such as a serenade or a dessert treat.

Because it's your first visit, I wouldn't worry too much about planning "extras." Spend your time soaking in all the magic that the day can offer. If you wish, you can let the birthday girl choose a special souvenir to mark the occasion. Or, if she is old enough, let her choose where to eat or which rides to pick for FastPass+ reservations.

I certainly would plan to stay for the Wishes nighttime spectacular and the Once Upon a Time castle show. That's a perfect way to cap a magical day at Magic Kingdom.

Wishing you an amazing visit! My family has celebrated many birthdays at Walt Disney World over the last 20 years and we still believe spending time together there is the best present of all. Enjoy!
