Hello Disney Moms, I will be travelling to Disney World on 1/31/12, with my three children:13, 9, and 4. Any recommendations for travelling with such a wide age group? I have travelled extensively with my older two, but this is the first big trip for #3.

    Hi Carole,

I have traveled to Disney World frequently with my 5 children who currently range in age from 7-19, so I can understand your concerns. Here is what we did the first few times we took them to Disney. We sat down with all of the kids beforehand and we went over the park maps with them. We let them each circle rides that they really want to go on and each child picked out their one "must-do" at each park. I assured them all that they would get to do their favorite ride, but that they were going to have to be patient. It's much easier to explain this to the older children, naturally. I let them know from the get-go that we would be spending quite a bit of time in Fantasyland for their youngest siblings. Then, in the evening, my husband likes to relax in the room with the younger kids and I will often head back into the park for Extra Magic Hours with my older kids.

I also always plan something special for each kid. For example, my youngest girls do Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, my teens rent a Sea Raycer, go to DisneyQuest or swim with the Dolphins and my tweens may choose to do the Jedi Training Experience or get their hair wrapped.

Honestly, my children have never complained at all about not getting to do their things at Disney and they always go with the flow. I think they just feel so grateful to be there that they soak up every minute of the experience.

Hope this helps and that you have a wonderful vacation,
