Going to Disney this May & torn on which resort to stay at. We currently have reservations at AKL, savannah view with bunk beds. Considering switching to BC or YC for the location, pool & other amentites. Boys are 6 & 8 love swimming.

    Hi Susie!

You have a great dilemma!  I've stayed at both the Beach Club and Animal Kingdom Villas in a savannah view room.  Both resorts are magnificent.  Here are some things to consider in making your choice:

    • Stormalong Bay shared by the Yacht and Beach Club is one of the best-themed and most popular pools at Disney.  It features a sandy bottom, whirlpools and amazing slide that "launches" from a ship-wrecked boat.
    • Uzima pool at the Animal Kingdom Lodge is also amazing.  It is a zero-entry pool, themed after an African watering hole and has a 67 foot slide.  This pool gets rave reviews from guests.
    • Having the opportunity to stand on the balcony of your room in PJs and start your day by viewing amazing wildlife is incredible, and is something that you probably won't be able to do anywhere else on this continent!
    • The Beach and Yacht club does have a wonderful location.  The ability to walk to two of the four main theme parks (Epcot and Hollywood Studios) is a big plus for many families.  The resort's location also offers easy access to many restaurants because the Boardwalk is a 3 minute walk, and countries at Epcot are a stroll away as well.
    • Transportation to the Magic Kingdom from either the Yacht and Beach or Animal Kingdom is by bus. The ride from Animal Kingdom Lodge is a bit longer, but not significantly.
    • Both Boma (buffet) and Jiko (signature dining) are extremely popular and well-reviewed restaurants at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

I'm not sure if I made your choice easier, but the list above are some of the things I'd consider.  I think your boys will have a blast no matter what you choose.  Have fun!
