We will be at Disney from May 7 thru May 12. Our grandson will be 6 on May 11, any suggestions for making a special day for him

    Hi Lois:

Celebrating a birthday at Walt Disney World is magical, especially for a six-year-old. Although you probably won't have to go out of your way to make the experience any more special for your grandson, here are a few suggestions:

    • Check in at City Hall at the Magic Kingdom or at guest relations at one of the other parks and pick up a birthday button. Many Cast Members will go out of their way to wish your grandchild a Happy Birthday or greet him with a kind gesture to make the day more memorable.
    • Contact the Dream Makers at Disney Floral and Gifts online or at (407) WDW-GIFT or (407) 939-4438. If you are staying at a Disney resort, they can help create a personalized in-room celebration featuring your grandchild's favorite Disney characters. They can also deliver personalized gift baskets to your Disney resort or a Disney restaurant where you may be enjoying a celebratory meal.
    • If you are staying at a Disney resort, let them know that it's your grandchild's birthday when you check in. It's possible the front desk may be able to help arrange some Disney magic for your grandchild.
    • Arrange a special character meal dining reservation. You usually cannot go wrong with a character breakfast at Chef Mickey's.
    • A simple treat, like buying your grandchild a balloon or a bag of popcorn on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom, will likely bring a huge smile to your grandson.
Enjoy the trip and the special day.
