Hi Carole,
The
Jedi Training Academy (JTA) at Disney's Hollywood Studios (DHS) is out of this world fun! Participants do need to be able to follow some basic instructions during their training. They are taught a routine by a Jedi Master that they will use to battle Darth Vader. During the battle, the Jedi Master assists young Padawans by pointing with their lightsaber to remind them of the routine. Its not difficult and I think that just by watching your child could learn the moves - especially if a little older (participants must be between the ages of 4 and 12).
You can find lots of videos on YouTube that previous Guests have taken of JTA. Watch them with your child and explain to them in their native language what is taking place during the training. You can also familiarize them with some English words that may be key during their training such as activate, left shoulder, right shoulder, duck, etc. That way they will be prepared which will help them feel more comfortable.
If this is something your child wants to participate in, head to the JTA stage first. He will need to be present with you to register. It is held several times a day. The times will be listed on your
Times Guide that you pick up along with your
Guide Map when you enter DHS. The number of participants is limited and they start registration first thing in the morning and stop once the spots are filled for the day (they usually fill up fast during peak seasons).
A PhotoPass Photographer takes shots of all of the participants. Afterwards, be sure to stop by so that he/she can give you a slip of paper with instructions on how to get those pictures added to your Disney PhotoPass.
Wishing you many magical memories :-) Allison
