Hi Katie,
March is a wonderful time to visit the Walt Disney World resort. The weather is usually beautiful, and there's lots of extra fun going on, including the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival, Major League Baseball spring training at the Wide World of Sports Complex and, in mid-March, St. Patrick's Day celebrations.
My husband and I spent St. Patrick's Day at Epcot this year. It was a Sunday during the Flower and Garden Festival. The World Showcase was fairly empty until we crossed the bridge between France and the United Kingdom, and then all we could see was a sea of guests dressed in green, hanging out near the Rose & Crown Pub, drinking green beer and celebrating the holiday.
The largest
St. Patrick's Day festivities at Disney normally take place at Raglan Road at Downtown Disney. Usually, the fun lasts for several days and includes special music, Irish dancing and street festival activities. If you want to eat and drink at the restaurant during that time, I highly recommend making advance dining reservations.
Because many schools and colleges are on spring break during March -- and because of the special activities -- it can be relatively crowded, though not usually as much as during the peak summer weeks or the Christmas holidays. So it's good that you are thinking ahead and can make advance arrangements for the things you really want to do, whether it's related to the holiday or not.
Please let me know if I can answer any other questions as you make your plans for your spring visit. I'm happy to help. And one more suggestion: Be sure to pack something green for everyone to wear. We're all Irish on March 17.
Enjoy!
Wilma
