Hi I am going to Disney March 18. My husband needs a scooter to get around,he can walk but with complications from Diabetes he needs the scooter. Is it better to rent for the week from an outside (but on property)dealer? If so how easy is it to travel .

    Hello Ann,

Just a few more days until your Disney vacation. I'm envious!

Scooters, a.k.a. electronic convenience vehicles (ECV), are available for rent from various locations at Disney World. There are many advantages of renting from Disney. You can know if there's a problem with your unit, Disney can assist you immediately in replacing the ECV. Also, at the end of the day, you don't have to worry about the ECV taking up space in your Resort room. For more on where you can rent ECV's on property and rental fees, click here.

That being said, if you believe your husband may need the ECV to navigate around your Resort, you may want to consider renting from an outside company. When renting from Disney, ECV's cannot leave the theme parks. There are a few places in Orlando that will deliver ECV's to your Resort. My family has used Walker Mobility in the past (not for ECV but for wheelchair rental) and were very happy with them. The wheelchair was at our resort, "waiting" for us when we arrived. And we were able to leave the wheelchair with Bell Services for pick up when we checked out.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip!

My family loves our Main Street in Ohio. But there's simply no comparison to Main Street U.S.A.! We don't get to Disney quite as often as I'd like, but that just means finding new ways to sprinkle Pixie Dust on our adventures! Learn More About Monina
