Disney 1/2 marathon in Jan. will be my 1st! How should I plan the rest of our trip, what do you do Sat. after race and Sun.? We have brfkst res. at CRT for DD bday Sun. morn, will I be too sore or worn out to enjoy the parks? Can family attend expo fri?

    Hi Amanda,

    Thank you for your question.

First off..congratulations on deciding to run your first half marathon!!!!  I have run many 1/2 marathons and I have to say that Disney does it right!!  It is not just a run, it is an experience.

Your family can come with you to the expo and if they can, they should.  At the expo there will be different vendors, seminars, race information. Each time I go to the expo, I find new and exciting products that help me with my running!  You and your family can walk around and get fired up about your upcoming race!!

After the race you will be tired, a bit sore but your excitement and pride will override that and you will be pumped up.  After races, I usually go and eat! If you are planning a full day at the Magic Kingdom on Sunday then you might want to head back to your resort after you eat and sit in the hot tub for a while to loosen up those muscles!!  Stretching and drinking water will be key in reducing your soreness.

Way to go for deciding to run a half marathon! After this one, you will be hooked!!

Stay on top of your training!

Wear your medal with pride, you earned it!!

If you have any other questions, ask away!!

    Your friend in running,
    Carrie
