Will Disney be lifting the blackout dates for silver passholders again this year? It would be some wonderful pixie dust should it be as I’d love to be able to celebrate my birthday there in June after surpassing foot surgery.

Hi, Arlene! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Thank you so much for stopping by with your question. And allow me to wish you an early happy birthday! I hope it finds you well and healing quickly from your foot surgery.

It does sound like a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort would be the perfect celebration for your dual milestones. As I write this, Disney hasn't announced any adjustments to the blockout period for Florida Resident Silver Annual Passes. A quick look at the blockout calendar on the Walt Disney World website does show that the usual summer dates are still in effect. But you never know when Disney will drop a little pixie dust, so keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for any news on future blockout dates.

Arlene, we also have Silver Annual Passes in my family, so summer visits to the Theme Parks are out for us. One of the things we like to do during blockout seasons is to plan a "non-Parks" stay and enjoy all the other ways to play at Walt Disney World. You can spend a day shopping and dining at Disney Springs, make a splash in one (or both!) of the Water Parks, hop aboard the Walt Disney World Monorail System and explore the fabulous Resort hotels along the line, rent a personal watercraft, check out a dinner show, and lots more - all without entering a Theme Park. For us, it's also a perfect time to upgrade our Resort hotel stay since we often choose a Value Resort hotel when we're planning to be in the Parks all day. That way, we can truly enjoy all the amazing amenities the higher-end Resorts have to offer.

I'm sorry I didn't have better news for you, Arlene, but I do hope I was able to give you some ideas to add some magic to your birthday. Please do come see us again if you have any other questions!

    Keep Disney Dreaming,

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
