We are going to Disney July 4th of this year and staying a week. My children are 8,7,3, and 2. 3 girls and the 2 yr old is a boy. Suggestions on where to stay? Is this a really busy time of year??

    Hi, Kelli!

I’m glad to hear your family is headed to The Happiest Place on Earth this summer! You and your kids are in for a magical week.

I have two top Disneyland Resort Hotel recommendations for families with young children. The first is Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa because it’s the closest to the theme parks, making trips back to the hotel room for naps quick and easy. It’s also nice to avoid a long walk or ride back to your room at the end of a long day in the parks. Another great option is the Disneyland Hotel because its rooms are by far the most spacious of all three resort hotels. There are also no balconies in the rooms at this hotel, just floor-to-ceiling windows, which some parents prefer. This property is close to the Monorail station in the Downtown Disney District, so you can hop on for a ride directly into Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park.

The week of Independence Day is very busy at resort (as is any major holiday, especially during the summer months) due to school vacations and many people having leave from their jobs. The great news is since that week of July is so popular, the entertainment schedule will be bustling and daily park hours will be long. You’ll have plenty to explore and experience, including Fantasy Faire in Disneyland Park and Cars Land in Disney California Adventure Park!

Be sure to take advantage of early theme park entry, which is currently offered to Guests of the Disneyland Resort Hotels on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays for Disneyland Park and on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for Disney California Adventure Park. It’s a great way to make the most of your time and fit as much magic as possible into your vacation.

I hope this helps, Kelli, and that you have a wonderfully pixie-dusted visit!

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
