Hi Kathleen! Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel. You could book at your home resort Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village and watch for availability at Disney's Vero Beach Resort.
At least 31 Days or more BEFORE your check-in date you can change/cancel your booked travel plan and if your new reservation uses fewer points than the original reservation, the remaining points are returned to your member account in the corresponding Use Year.
From 30 Days to 1 day BEFORE your check-in date you can still cancel/change your travel plan but in this case because of the limited time, all of your vacation points are placed in a "Holding Account." If your new reservation uses fewer vacation points than the original reservation, the leftover points remain in the "Holding Account" and will expire at the end of the Use Year if they are not used. These points cannot be returned to your regular member account to be banked or borrowed. Also vacation points in a "Holding Account" cannot be used to book new reservations more than 60 days out.
Your Disney Vacation Club Membership allows you the flexibility to reserve accommodations at your non-home resort up to 7 months in advance of the check-in date. If you really want to visit Disney's Vero Beach I would just wait for your 7-month booking window to open up and book then. Availability is dependent on the time of year you're traveling and the specific accommodations you're requesting.
There's nothing quite like the relaxing experience of Florida's Atlantic Treasure Coast at
Disney’s Vero Beach Resort. It's one of our favorite Disney vacation destinations - with villas literally seconds away from the beach. You'll love taking in the beautiful scene of the coast from your beach side cabana...it's pure bliss!
Wishing you lots of fun in the sun and a magical vacation.
~Juliette
