We are going to Disney as a group but my daughter and I want to stay three days longer. The group price is fixed for the 4 night package with hopper and the current free dining plan. Can we extend and still keep the upgrade hopper and free dining plan?

Hey Howdy Hey Theresa and welcome to planDisney!

It is so exciting to hear you will be visiting us in the Most Magical Place on Earth later this year and with a big group! Thank you for your question about extending your trip. A lot would depend on how you booked your trip which will affect if you were able to extend it or not with the same benefits and group pricing. Let's dive in and see if we can come up with some scenarios for you.

When traveling with larger groups, especially if you are traveling for a sporting event or competition at ESPN Wide World of Sports, Disney goes above and beyond to offer special deals on room accommodations, dining and theme park tickets. With larger groups, these offers sometimes are limited in the days and specific resorts they are applicable for. They are also offered with specific terms that may only be accessible through a specific travel agent working with your group or you also may have gotten a specific phone number to contact a Disney Cast Member to discuss your travel needs with. These terms may be flexible or not when it comes to arriving early or staying later. I would start there, with either the travel agent or Cast Member, if this is the case, to see if they would be able to help you out and extend your trip with just you and your daughter. Just know they may not be able to extend the benefits outside of the current 4-night package you currently have booked.

If you are not traveling with a group for a sporting event and just a group that took advantage of a Special Offer from Disney, you may have a little more flexibility in what you may be able to book. In most cases, you can take care of extending the trip yourself online however this would be a new trip reservation. When you search for the dates and resort availability, before selecting your room accommodations,  you should see an option towards the top of the screen to filter our only qualifying rooms for offers such as A FREE and Delicious Deal for Disney+ Subscribers which is the only current offer for free dining. As long as you are a Disney+ subscriber, you will be able to take advantage of this offer and just select your theme park tickets with the Park Hopper Option to continue your Magical vacation.

You are also more than welcome to give Disney a call and discuss your current situation and goals for your upcoming trip with a Cast Member. They may be able to not only help you through this process of extending your stay but also may be able to keep you at your current resort and merge the two reservations so you will not have to switch rooms, pending availability.

There are a lot of potential scenarios that may apply to your current reservation and hopefully, I was able to give you an answer on what your next steps will be. Please feel free to reach back out if you have any further questions as we are always happy to help!

    Have a Magical day,

    Nick
