Does Disney give military discounts for retirees?

    Hi Kathy!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Thank you so much for reaching out to us hEAR and asking this great Disneyland Resort Military planning question. First off, please allow me to thank you for your service! Mine is a military family too, and I'd love to clEAR things up a bit for you!

Yes! Disneyland Resort does offer a specially priced three and four-day U.S. Military Promotional Multi-Day Theme Park Ticket as well as discounted U.S. Military room rates at the three Disneyland Resort Hotels to "Eligible U.S. Service Members" which does include those who officially retired after at least 20 years of service. Disney officially defines 'Eligible Service Members' as "Active or Retired members of the U.S. Military, the National Guard, Reservists, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS), and the Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)."

Each family (either the service member or their spouse, but not both) is able to purchase up to six of these military promotional theme park tickets per calendar year. Do note that these tickets can only be purchased in person from the Disneyland Resort Ticket Booths, or check with the Military Ticket Sales Office at your nearest military installation. And if you can, try to purchase these tickets in advance, even if that means buying them on the day you arrive in town vs. the morning of your first Disney day.

Pro Tip: Most Military ticket offices in the Southern California area also sell discounted 1-day, 2-day, and 5-day Disneyland Resort Theme Parks tickets too, the closest bases being L.A. AFB, March ARB, Camp Pendleton and Navy Base San Diego. You can find their price sheets though a google search, but if you think that you're going to want to visit both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park for two or more days, the U.S. Military Multi-Day Promotional Ticket is the way to go as it's a much better deal.

Bonus Pro Tip: While there are no Military discounts available on merchandise or food inside the theme parks, several shops and restaurants in the Downtown Disney District do offer Military discounts, so be sure to ask!

I hope this helped to be able to plan some upcoming Disney Days, Kathy, and if you have any more Disneyland Resort planning questions, We're All Ears!
