Welcome, Tineke!
Thanks for visiting us at planDisney, as a fellow foodie myself, I’m happy to help! The Dining Plan is what won my husband over. I’ve always loved Disney and my husband has learned to love Disney by munching his way through the theme parks. It’s our happy medium. I book the trip, make the plans, and he gets the dining plan! Don’t get me wrong, he does play a part in selecting which
restaurants we dine at.
The dining plan is purchased as an add-on option to your
vacation package. So to answer your question, yes, you can use a
Disney Gift Card towards your purchase of the Dining plan. Your Disney Gift card will be used towards paying the balance of your vacation package. It can even be used towards your Disney Resort deposit. What I usually do with my gift cards is hang on to them and use them towards
merchandise purchases. I also use them towards food and drinks that aren’t included in my purchased dining plan.
Tineke, I recommend taking a look at both dining plan options. There’s the
Disney Dining Plan, which will allow you to enjoy 1 Table-Service Meal per night of stay. Then there’s the
Quick-Service Dining Plan, which doesn’t include Table-Service meals.
My family has enjoyed both options and the one we select usually depends on the time of year we visit. Summertime is when we usually partake in the Disney Dining Plan. This allows us to take advantage of dining indoors for a longer style meal, during peak heat times. It’s an easy way for us to “keep cool”. While the Quick-Service option is more of an on-the-go style. It really just depends on what you and your family are looking to enjoy while you’re there. No matter which one you choose, you will be filled with delicious experiences. Trust me.
Tineke, I do hope this helps answer your question. If there’s anything else you need, we’re always
here to help!
